Toyota Takes US Into The Future, Announcing FT-CH

In a recent North American International Auto Show press conference covered by windingroad.com, Toyota displayed the brands commitment to a future of electrically powered vehicles.

Toyota has led the way with the newest hybrid technology and plans to continue developing several types of environmentally friendly cars including a full-cell vehicle by 2015.

Within the next few years, Toyota plans to expand the highly successful Prius line of vehicles, introducing the FT-CH.

Likely to be the first of several new Prius models, the FT-CH is smaller and sexier than the Prius. You can check out the new design in the Toyota video below. Toyota hopes to make conventional hybrid systems their core technology, introducing eight new hybrids within the next year.

BBC names Prius as top object of the decade

bbc list Toyota Prius among the decades top objectsIn the newly published BBC article, Portrait of a Decade, the Toyota Prius was named among the top objects. Also chosen as winners were Blackberry’s, Playstation3, hair straighteners and Ugg boots.

According to author, Peter York, the list is broader than just the latest gadgets:

“There were lots of ‘boys’ toys’ suggested, but I’ve tried to make a choice broader than technology. It’s good to see flat-screen televisions in there, they really took over the living rooms. Hair straighteners revolutionised women’s hair and popularised the Atomic Kitten look, while the Toyota Prius symbolises the way people started making environmental gestures. Everyone was talking about hoodies for a while, because of David Cameron’s [hug a hoody] comments and the fear of young criminals. I chose Sky+ because it changed my life and the way I view television.”

The article also outlines the decades top Words, People, News and Culture.

If you’re interested in seeing the award winning Prius first-hand, we’ve got both new and pre-owned models waiting to be taken out for a spin. You can search through our entire inventory of hybrid’s online here: http://www.greshamtoyota.com/en_us/defaultused.asp
