Who’s that crossing the finish line? Well, it’s Toyota, of course, as they take the lead in the standings for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. FOXNews wrote a great article detailing the racing team’s journey from obscurity to its current front-running status.

After winning seven of the last nine races, Toyota seems headed to a championship, a first for a foreign-based car maker. Despite being a relative newcomer to the sport, Toyota has grown by leaps and bounds.

Leading the way is Kenny Hamlin whose win at Saturday’s race was the 5th win in 10 races. Hamlin and the whole Toyota team’s current domination underscores the skills of its drivers.

Just look at the competition and how long they’ve been here and the strength of their organizations. I think the size of the accomplishment would be greater than any of us realize, to be able to do it that quickly. – Lee White, Toyota’s top executive for NASCAR.
