New Toyota Cars: Future Fuel Cell Car for Under $50K
According to an article in Wired Magazine, Toyota aims to have the first hydrogen powered car available by 2015 for under $50K.
With fuel cell cars offering many advantages to battery-powered cars, it is an exciting new frontier for vehicles powered by energy other than gasoline.
“On a cost basis per car, range and performance, fuel-cell vehicles can have an advantage over battery vehicles,” said Jay Whitacre, a professor of materials science and engineering at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh
While it will be sometime before the hydrogen car is available, it is intriguing to think of the possibilities. With the quality of Toyota’s vehicles combined with the performance of a hydrogen fuel cell, this could be the vehicle of the future.
