Portland Car Dealer: Toyota Brings the 2013 Land Cruiser to the Detroit Auto Show
Unlike many of the vehicles that automakers unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show this year, the 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser hasn’t undergone any mechanical overhauls. There’s no new engine with more horsepower, the fuel efficiency is the same, and Toyota kept the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), which allows the anti-roll bars to disengage if a driver chooses to take this luxury SUV off-roading.
What has changed, however, are the features that come with every Land Cruiser. Voice-activated navigation, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, and rain-sensing windshield wipers that used to be optional. Toyota has made those little extras standard on the 2013 model. Want to grab dinner and a movie? Toyota’s Entune multimedia system integrates apps from smartphones, including OpenTable and movietickets.com. Need to take a hands-free call? Bluetooth integration with the Land Cruiser’s JPL speaker system makes that possible.
Comfort hasn’t been overlooked in these upgrades, either. From the leather-trimmed steering wheel to the cooler in the center console, from the vented passenger seats to power outlets in the rear seating area, the 2013 Land Cruiser is built to avoid the road trip blues. You know what we mean. “He’s touching me! My iPod battery’s dead! There’s nothing to DO!” No one’s going to complain in this SUV.

Portland Car Dealer: 2011 Toyota Corolla Defends its Crown as Top Selling Vehicle
The Corolla has always been a top-selling Toyota vehicle and the modifications to the 2011 model are sure to keep it that way. Aesthetic features include an enhanced interior and exterior upgrades to the car’s front bumper, radiator grille, front lower grille, headlamps, trunk lid, rear combination lamp and rear bumper.
And while fine-tuned windshield moldings and wiper-blade covers may just seem like additional details, they are just some of the modifications for reduced wind noise and a quieter cabin. Details to improve ownership experience is a running theme throughout the 2011 Corolla.
The Corolla comes with a 1.8-liter I4 engine with dual variable valve timing and other cutting-edge technology for both competitive power ratings and strong EPA numbers – up to 28 mpg city and 35 mpg highway with a five-speed manual transmission or 26 mpg city/34 mpg highway with its four-speed automatic. And with Toyota’s dedication to top-notch safety, the automaker’s Star Safety System and complimentary maintenance service comes standard in all vehicles. What a deal.

Fuel Efficient Cars: Toyota Motors Pioneers Use Of Laptop Batteries in EV Cars
Toyota Motors in partnership with Tesla is testing lithium-ion batteries originally designed for laptops in the next generation of Electric Vehicles reports an interesting Delaware online article. Costing less than the bigger car only batteries, these batteries could be the key to reducing new EV car sticker prices.
It may lead to the total component cost of an electric car getting lower than a gasoline car… and more likelihood that retail prices of electric cars will drop. – Koji Endo, a Tokyo-based analyst at Advanced Research Japan.
A cluster of 6,831 Panasonic battery cells helps to power Tesla’s super powerful high end roadster which boasts a 245 mile per charge range.
The use of rechargeable consumer electronics batteries may help cut manufacturing costs and sticker prices, which led manufacturers of lithium-ion laptops batteries to project tripled sales over the next decade.
Sales of EV and hybrid cars, including the new plug-in cars will total over 900,000 vehicles in 2011.

New Toyota Car: The Updated 2011 Toyota Avalon
Consumer Reports reviews the 2011 Toyota Avalon in the video below. While having a look at the car during the 2010 New York Auto show, they found the updated Avalon kept all the features drivers have come to expect while making improvements.
The Toyota Avalon has always been a standard for luxury and this year’s model is no different. Looking at the exterior, Toyota has tweaked the look to give a more modern feel as well as making the interior of the car “almost limo class.” The reviewer was especially impressed with the car’s brake override system, which he thought should be standard on more vehicles.
It has plenty of power and impressive fuel economy – Tom Mutchler, Automotive Engineer
