Portland Toyota Dealer: 2012 Toyota Yaris Receives Upgrade in Both Style and Substance
With fuel prices skyrocketing and remaining high throughout the U.S., the fuel-efficient Toyota Yaris has become Toyota’s third best-selling vehicle. Embraced primarily by
female enthusiasts in previous years, the newest Yaris will include a number of style adjustments to increase the exterior appeal of the vehicle in general.
Starting at just over $13,000 and achieving 36 highway MPG, the Yaris will continue to provide a tremendous amount of value for the price-sensitive consumer. What sets the newest Yaris apart, however, is it’s design upgrades. On the exterior, the previously bulbus front end has been replaced by a more “mature” and masculine shape. Also accompanied by re-shaped headlights and taillights, it includes a mesh grille and bright exhaust tip for a sporty look that was absent in previous designs.
We’re thrilled about what the 2012 Yaris has to offer, and they will be arriving on our lot soon! Stay tuned for news on this and other upcoming Toyota models right here and on our Facebook page!

Portland Toyota Dealer: The Wait is Over For the Prius Plug-In Hybrid
We’ve seen the concept, we’ve heard the hype, and the wait is finally over for the most highly anticipated Prius model to date: the Prius Plug-In Hybrid.
Priority registration for the plug-in version of the world’s most popular hybrid vehicle is now running and will end on August 22nd. Those who take advantage of this registration will have the opportunity to order the plug-in hybrid in October, before the rest of the general public has the same opportunity.
What’s so special about the newest Prius to hit the market? Besides being Toyota’s first vehicle to include an exclusive electric option, the plug-in combines proven Prius technology with the new Prius Plug-in EV (Electric Vehicle) mode. The EV mode works under certain conditions up to near freeway speeds for up to 15 miles at a time, and transitions to this mode during optimal driving speeds and conditions. The Prius Plug-in delivers where other exclusively-electric vehicles fail; the range is extended dramatically with the combination of the already fuel-efficient gas-powered engine with new EV technology.
Charging the Prius Plug-in won’t occupy your entire day, either. A full charge only takes about 3 hours using a standard household outlet, and it has the ability to travel up to 475 miles on a single tank.
Priority registration ends August 22nd, so hurry over to the Prius Plug-in website to claim yours before anyone else!

Portland Toyota Dealer: 2012 Scion iQ Goes Beyond ‘Smart’
If you live in a large city, you’ve experienced the struggle of finding parking and fitting into small places. Solving these problems for urban customers is
the goal of Scion’s new city car, the all-new iQ.
Citing that the new Scion model “does everything small, but in a big way”, Motor Trend noted that the iQ received tons of onlooker attention from Bay Area residents during their initial testing. This was mostly due to the iQ’s most eye-catching asset: it’s shockingly small size. At just over 120 inches long, it’s the perfect car for maneuvering through congested areas of any city.
To achieve such a compact size, the iQ features Toyota’s first North American application of the 1NR-FE, a 1.3-liter engine offering 94 horsepower and 89 lb-ft of torque. While this doesn’t compare to the horsepower of other Toyota and Scion products, it is more than sufficient for its intended use of traveling the city. All other components – including the air conditioning unit, 8.5-gallon gas tank, and safety products – are carefully placed to achieve the ideal size for city use.
Fuel economy comes in at an estimated 36/37 highway/city MPG, similar to top-rated hybrids. Other notable aspects of Motor Trend’s test drive included a firm ride, tight steering, and feeling “remarkably secure at highway speeds with no noticeable crosswinds”.

Portland Toyota Dealer: Best-Selling Prius Offers All-New Performance Package
The Toyota Prius, the best-selling hybrid in America, is now offering a brand new performance package that first made its debut at the 2010 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. Based off of the PLUS hybrid performance line created by Toyota Racing Development (TRD), the Prius PLUS package offers a dynamic new option previously foreign to hybrid owners.
The PLUS package adds two compelling features for the growing hybrid segment: performance handling and visually appealing accessories that create a sporty look. Toyota is hoping this will further position the Prius as the ultimate balance between Eco and high-performance technology.
Available in limited quantity, the PLUS package also features a seven-piece aerodynamic kit that results in an aggressive and lower-profile stance. This includes newly-designed front and rear bumper spoilers, side skirts, and rear diffuser – all of which combine to reduce the vehicle’s coefficient of drag while maintaining class-leading fuel economy.
Several new factors contribute to the PLUS package’s improved handling, most notably the track-tuned springs which lower the vehicle 1.1 inches in the front and 1.3 inches in the rear. A liquid metal protective finish, limited edition PLUS logo floor mats, and race-inspired 17 inch alloy wheels round out the exclusive look of the PLUS package.

Portland Toyota Dealer: National Dealer Meeting Confirms Exciting News For Toyota
Last Wednesday, a national dealer meeting took place in Las Vegas for Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC). The meeting was attended by many representatives from Toyota’s 1,233 dealerships and was held to address many of the strengths and challenges facing the company today.
The meeting began with TMC President Akio Toyoda addressing the challenges faced by the company in wake of the disaster that struck Japan in March. He focused on thanking dealers for their selfless support in raising more than $11 million for Japan disaster relief, which still continues today.
Transitioning to the company’s current state, the mood quickly took a turn for the better. Toyota’s central message was that Toyota is more focused on product quality than ever before, with 2012 models looking to further illustrate Toyota’s superior quality to competitors. Upcoming models such as the 2012 Camry, 2012 Camry Hybrid, and all-new Rav4 will further demonstrate Toyota as the industry leader in innovation and technology.
Additionally, the amount of trust in each individual dealer was presented with a new focus on dealer autonomy. The ability of managers to make their own decisions is crucial to the long-term growth and success of Toyota, as well as the need to deliver the best customer service in the auto industry. These strategic adjustments come just in time for the launch of several highly-anticipated new product lines, such as the new family of “Prii” and Scion iQ EV.
