Fuel Efficient Cars Portland: Toyota Motors Announces Plans for 2012 Eco-Cars
Toyota has released details about the new fleet of Toyota eco cars. These advanced new cars support Toyota Motor Companies belief that eco cars can make a positive impact on the environment if they are widely available to consumers.
Detailed plans for 11 all-new and redesigned hybrid models provide insight into new Toyota cars available by the end of 2012. A plug-in EV Prius model was described as well as a compact car with 40 mpg fuel efficiency.
Starting in 2011, electric vehicle (EV) testing will begin with road-trials in Japan, US and Europe. An example of the cars we may soon see in the Northwest include the RAV4 EV concept which debuted at the LA Auto show in November. Hybrid technologies, the advancements necessary for efficient and reliable eco-cars, are a large part of Toyota’s company-wide mission to create a low-carbon society in response to the need to diversify energy resources.

New Toyota Cars: Toyota RAV4 EV to Debut at LA Auto Show
The Toyota Pressroom announced that the Toyota RAV4 electric vehicle will debut during the Los Angeles Auto Show later this month. Jim Lentz president and CEO of TMS will make this announcement from the Toyota Booth in South Hall at the Los Angeles Convention Center. 
The Toyota RAV4, a leader in the crossover SUV market for over 15 years, now offers greater value as well as an EV version. The roomy RAV4 2011 version will also offer a new Upgrade Value Package available to base v4 and V6 models at a special price. These upgrades will include a six-CD audio system with XM Radio (subscription required); steering wheel audio controls; 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels; color-keyed door handles; Daytime Running Lights (DRL); roof rack; privacy glass; power tilt/slide moonroof; upgraded fabric interior; and, on two-row models, a rear cargo area tonneau cover. This is good news for Oregon Toyota buyers; now we can have the sporty Toyota RAV4 as an EV and upgrade to the sporty Value Package!
